Any mention of automotive history would have to include the Stanley Brothers from Kingfield, Maine. The twin brothers were noted as being inventive and as entrepreneurial geniuses. They developed the airbrush, a line of drafting instruments, the “Stanley Dry Plate” process that was used by Eastman Kodak under the Stanley name for many years. But the stand out and best known was the “Stanley Steamer” first produced in 1897. The “Steamer” has quite a history-
First auto to climb Mount Washington.
First time a US President rode in auto-President William McKinley
Fastest steam powered car ever produced-in 1906 Fred Marriott drove the Stanley Steamer “Rocket” to a speed of 127.66 mph at Daytona Beach. A record that stands today.
While visiting Bed and Breakfast Kennebunkport a day trip to the Stanley Museum would be in order.

While visiting Bed & Breakfast Kennebunkport
you will want to experience “Lobster” the tasty icon for the State of Maine. Every restaurant serves Lobster in some fashion. The more traditional method is steamed in a very casual setting. The famous Lobster Roll is made with picked lobster meat served in a hot dog bun. Government Wharf and the Cape Porpoise Pier are local spots that the Lobster Boats unload their catch each day.
Lobstering is done year round with baited wire traps. The old traditional wooden traps are mostly used for decoration and coffee tables.
Lobsters are mostly green and brown before cooking and red after cooking. A one pounder is somewhere between 5 to 7 years old and it takes about 5 to make one pound of lobster meat. Maine lobsters besides being delicious are good for you. They have less cholesterol, calories and saturated fats than skinless chicken.
If you would like to delivered overnight to your home check out “Catch a Piece of Maine“.
Lobster by itself is enough reason to visit the “Kennebunks“.
